Professional Work

ODU Undergraduate Admissions Ambassador

I started working for the Future Monarch Center March 2016. I went through an application, group interview, and an individual interview before being offered a position on the FMC team as a second semester Sophomore.

My responsibilities as a ODU Ambassador are to complete offices hours, answer phones, write thank you cards, input prospective students into our database, call prospective students about upcoming events, help train new tour guides, and to give prospective students a campus tour of Old Dominion University. As Ambassadors we work every Open House, Admitted Students Day, and Scholars Day and at least one tour Monday-Saturday.

ODU Monarch Dining Marketing Assistant

I started working for Monarch Dining in September of 2014 and finished the program in May 2015. Freshman year of college I was placed in the work-study program where the University places first-year students in jobs on campus and pays them. By being apart of this program I had to take a 1-credit course for the LEAP program. They taught us how to write resumes, budget, and how to be a successful student.

I was placed with Monarch Dining as a Marketing Assistant because my major was in marketing. They try to place every student in a job closely related to their major. I didn't get to make the marketing material but I helped cut and distribute the material across the dining facilities on campus. I did tabling to sell meal plans to off-campus students. I also surveyed students to help decrease line times at certain dining locations. It was a great first job and I made a good relationship with my supervisor and we are still in contact today.
